wrapping static page

Have you tried writing a Page from the WordPress Write screen?

I’ve tried writing a Page, using the code from the relevant static page, but I lose all the css styling….

I am a bit confused here. First you said you want those external pages to appear “with the WP sidebar, headers and footers in place” – which means the WP blog’s style would apply to them.
Then you say you are loosing the style. Which one? You mean you want to keep the roiginal “red” pages AND make them to appear in the blog in their original look?

I am afraid that will not work.

Sorry – the “static pages” have a css style applied to them which I lose when I try to add a Page..

What I’m trying to do, I suppose, is open up an external web-page, keeping its styling, as a Page within my WP site..

That site probably is in an iframe (ugly thing, btw) and if you want to follow their path you may end up with the same number of errors:

But it’s your choice.
Google for iframes and learn about them. It is not a WP support question.

I’m not too bothered about validation at this stage!!! I’d just like to get some of the pages up in my WP site…

I’ll have a look at iframes… I did find 2 plugins – staticjack and ezstatic, but couldn’t get them to work for me…

I don’t think those plugins would do what you want. They were made for other purposes (I know for sure about ezstatic!).
