Write, publish, don’t show in list…

There may be a way to do this (I am new to this) but what I am looking for (suggesting if it is not possible now) is a way to post a topic, edit the topic over the course of months or years, and never have it show up in the recent topics/posts (main text body) on the main page.

Basically, a way to keep a list of something the will need to edit over time, but that never shows up and trumps actual posts that are being made by authors.

An example might be, top songs of the month. Using an ordered or unordered list, it would change over time, and of course, when “published”, it would just remain a nice link on the side of the page.

There is probably a really easy way to do this, but if not, it should be a an option other than “publish” when you are done…
