Writing wget in a post

I have a comment/solution/question about writing code in a post. Forgive me if this is a little “well duh”, but I’m also curious why I have had to work around it.

In a post, I was explaining how to create a cron job for automatically refreshing a page for a plugin (Fotobook). I wanted to say that I used the wget command, but I got an error every time I included the word “wget” in my post. I guess WP was trying to execute the command?

Eventually (after trying many other, more complicated solutions), I just put pointless <strong></strong> tags in the center of the word (like so: wg<strong></strong>et) and it worked.

Is this a bug, or is there a reason the word wget would be blocked from posts?
