I updated my site to 5.1 and this seemed to be successful, however after the update I still see the message: WordPress 5.1 is available! Please update now, and: WordPress 5.0.3 running hvdha theme.
How can I get the right version number?

Edit: version.php says: $wp_version = ‘5.1’; how can the Dasboard show the old version? I did clear the browser cache and don’t use a cache plugin in WP.

  • Hey tastymouse,

I guess there may be some problem with the auto update. I don’t think your WordPress version got updated to V5.1, as view source still stays it is V5.0.3

I would suggest you try once again and make sure there are no theme or plugin conflicts.

    Thanks,
    Kartik

Hi Kartik, how can a theme influence this? I have no idea where to look in my child-theme.
    Thanks, Tom

My hosting company has a ‘Compatibility mode’ option for accounts that host a WordPress website. It was on and when I set it off and on again the version number was displayed correctly. So the problem is resolved and it appeared to be a server issue.
