• Hello Forum,

I recently added a blog (wp 2.6) to my website. I installed the blog in a folder called: “mywebsite.com/blog/”
In my ‘normal’ website I have a custom 404.html page (resides in the root of my website) which normally (before installing 2.6) shows up when a user reaches a non-existing page of my main website. But since I have installed my WP 2.6 blog, only the 404.php page of my blog appears (after a page not found), even when the url was something like: “https://www.mywebsite.com/wrongpage.html”

The WP 404.php file is stored in my “/blog/wp-content/themes/”folder. So why is this file showed when users reach a page not found from my root folder (my normal website)?

  • Hi try this

    2. If you need/want the index.php to be there, then on the Settings->Permalinks screen, add some values in for the category and tag bases. The words “category” and “tag” will do just fine. As long as they are not blank, this should work around the bug.

No 1 suggested removing the index.php but that didn’t work for me but the above did.

    Regards Weems
