  • This was a bug introduced in version 1.9.22, and was fixed in 1.9.23. If you updated the plugin, you must go the admin screen to do a small database upgrade.

This is assuming you’re talking about CSS on the website itself. The CSS in the admin section also doesn’t load, but that will be fixed in the next version.

    Some more information:
downgrading to 1.9.22 did not help
downgrading to 1.9.21 fixed the issue!

Please provide a fix in 24 which works like 21 did.

This should be fixed in 1.9.23 already, but have you done the database upgrade?

I just did the wordpress built-in upgrade. Do I need to manually go and click on database upgrade somewhere?

Yes, in the admin screen, go to the Gallery option the menu (to go to the overview screen of NextCellent)

Ah, I see I had to manually go to admin and select any single menu and click upgrade. Can you not make this automatic? I’m using InfiniteWP to manage WP upgrades and that just runs the standard upgrade process.

We could make this automatic pretty easy, but we opted to not do it to give users more control about their database, but we’ll consider make it upgrade automatically.

The thing is that for keeping 30 WP websites up to date, I believe everyone uses some centralised update management. For example I’m using the excellent and free InfiniteWP. These plugins can only trigger the normal auto upgrade process, not something custom like clicking on a button.

Automatic would be the best, but even if not automatic a big global warning would be really handy (like the caching plugins for example), so at least the user can see that there is something wrong. The problem with this button was that there was no feedback that it had to be done, unless coming here and asking it.

I use WordPress v.4 with multisite. Yesterday i installed NextCellent Gallery 1.9.23, but I have the same problem. In network settings I don’t select a css-file (it’s emty). And I can’t save the other settings – no save-button.
So I read this thread, but I can’t find in the menus of WordPress where I can manually start the database update.

Zitat from zsero: “Ah, I see I had to manually go to admin and select any single menu and click upgrade”.

Please, can you give a detailt description what should I do? I’m a german newbie with poor English skills ??

I just want to add that I have the very same problem with wordpress multisite. Can’t select a css file (which I could live without) but also cannot change the permission (allow user to…) because I simply cannot save it. There’s no save button…
I ended up modifying the wpmu.php file to get rid of the part that wouldn’t work (it was calling for an undefined function : ngg_get_cssfiles(), and breaking the page), reuploading it, taking care of my user permissions, saving it (the button reappeared once I got rid of the faulty code), and putting the faulty code back, waiting for a more permanent fix. Needless to say, I also cannot choose a style for my galleries, but I don’t really need that. But that’s the part that’s messing everything up.

As for the database upgrade, I have absolutely no idea what to do, since I searched everywhere for an “upgrade database” button or text, and there is none. Maybe because I’m using wordpress multisite. Or maybe I did the database upgrade and don’t remember it, but I did have the problem with images showing under one another and not in a grid anymore. I fixed that with copying the css file into my theme file.

While I’ll look into the issues, it’s better to create your own post about these issues, since they’re only partially related.
