    Hi

I realised today for months that my hosting service hadn’t updated my DB_host in my sites wp-config file.

It was the same hosting company but I just upgraded to a better server.

The thing is my site has been working still. Is that possible?

From what I’ve researched, if your DB_host is wrong, then you get a Database connection error….but I never got that.

    Hi,

I think even if you upgraded your plan, host use separate server for databases, so your database stay the same like before upgrade.
Upgrade on shared hosting usually means, that they set up and allow you more source while you stay on the same server.

Even if they moved you to another physical server, all credential for database can stay the same, if they did not change IP address or use “localhost’.

I just realised in the Softaculous App in cpanel, my database details are wrong there as well.

Should I change it there to reflect the changes I’ve made in wp-config?

    Thanks

Your files connect to database what is in config.php so these data are important.
I am not familiar with Softaculous, I would suggest you to ask your hosting provider for help with this.
