I have a product list that has some variants. And I am using the SKU_ITEM_GROUP_ID as the group ID. However, the SKU_ITEM_GROUP_ID is using a child ID as the group ID. It is not using the parent SKU ID as the group ID.

You can check the following screenshots:
    https://prnt.sc/tdgojr
    https://prnt.sc/tdgpd9

There is missing the parent content ID in my Facebook Catalog Manager.

I am trying to use another attribute “SKU parent variable product”, but it is still wrong group ID. It should be a combination of SKU and post ID. It is now only the SKU!

    Hey @anguschang007 ,

Thank you very much for your message. Happy to help you with this!

Our plugin will currently create a new product in your Facebook Shop for every variant of WooCommerce product. That being said, it’s possible that the SKU is different than the Group ID because this attribute isn’t synced as expected. In order to further investigate, I’d love to know more regarding what you’d like to achieve in case I can provide you with more insight.

Would it be possible to share more information with me about the setup that you’re trying to create?

    Looking forward to your response.

    Best regards,

My product which has different sizes and its parent SKU is ISP001, and post ID is 2657. Your plugin will generate the content ID as ISP001_2657 and submit to Facebook.

On Facebook, there has a group ID for variant products. However, there is not possible to have a real product in the catalog for the parent item since it is not a real product. But it is possible to group by the parent item’s content ID. Due to your plugin is generated the content ID as ISP001_2657 for the parent item. So I am trying to set the group ID as the parent item’s content ID. You may check my following screenshot:
    https://prnt.sc/te98th

And there have few more options are available to choose:
    https://prnt.sc/te99an

But the problem is from the above options, there have no one which is generating parent content ID! The best option (https://prnt.sc/te98th) is generating parent SKU ISP001 without the post ID, so it is not matching your submitted ID (ISP001_2657) to Facebook. And there has a warning message (https://prnt.sc/tdgpd9) from Facebook Pixel Helper for the missing ID ISP001_2657.

    Hi @anguschang007!

Thanks for coming back to us with these added details.

It looks to me as though these issues you’re encountering have more to do with the Facebook/Instagram ads than our plugin exactly.

It seems as though you might be wanting to directly target the parent product in the ads? Is that correct? Is there a reason you’re not trying to target the individual products? I’d love to know more about what you’re trying to specifically accomplish here.

Thanks so much for any other information!

Yes, I am trying to target the parent product. There has the parent content ID only when the user is visiting that product and no child content IDs on there. I need to find out the users what they are visiting. So I need the parent content ID that in the Facebook catalog.

    Hi @anguschang007!

Thanks for the added details here. I’m going to confer with some of my colleagues on this.

To be clear, as you’re trying to create Facebook ads:

    – you’re trying to target the parent product
    – the parent content ID isn’t appearing in the Facebook Catalog
    – this is causing an error with the Pixel Helper (https://prnt.sc/tdgpd9)

Is that a good summary of the issue you’re encountering here? Please let me know if I left anything out or misunderstood.

Additionally, would you please be able to let me know your version numbers for:
    – Facebook for WooCommerce
    – WooCommerce
    – WordPress

Thanks so much for any confirmation and added information here.

    Yes, correct!

    Facebook for WooCommerce: Version 1.11.4
    WooCommerce: Version 4.3.0
    WordPress: Version 5.4.2

    Hi @anguschang007,

    Thanks so much for confirming.

I’ve spoken to a colleague who says that Facebook confirms it’s not possible to select a default variation with the feed sync. Because of this, it can cause issues with variable products.

I’m going to ask my colleague to take a look at the thread here and we’ll circle back on Monday.

Thanks so much for your patience here!

But I only need one option that has the same content ID (ISP001_2657). If so, I can map that content ID to the Group ID of those variant products.
    https://prnt.sc/tjx2sx

Now, I don’t have an option that has your plugin generated content ID for the group ID. Your content ID is combined by the parent’s SKU and its post ID. My current option (https://prnt.sc/tjx2sx) is only the parent’s SKU (ISP001).

I think the following options (https://prnt.sc/tjx4uh) are from your plugin. But they are not the current content ID for the parent item. There is missing one option for the parent’s content ID (combined by the parent’s SKU and its post ID).

    Hey @anguschang007,

Really appreciate the added details. We’re still looking into this on our end and I’ll come back with an update as soon as I can.

    Thank you!

    Hey @anguschang007,

Thanks for your patience as I spoke with a colleague here, I appreciate it!

You’re right when you say it’s not possible to create an empty product like Woo does, that holds the variations. Instead, the variations are all created as separate products, and they have the same item_group_id assigned, which Facebook uses to group them together. This is generated by using the ID of the WooCommerce parent variable product.

The item_group_id field is used in Facebook, and this is set to the same <parent SKU>_<post_id>.

So the plugin you’re using to target things seems to allow you to select SKU_ITEM_GROUP_ID. Picking that should allow you to pick up what we’ve already synchronized with Facebook.

Could you please try that out and let me know if that works?

    Thanks so much,

    Julie ??

    Hi @julieskyverge

When I am using the SKU_ITEM_GROUP_ID, it is only assigned a random content ID from other variant items. Check the following screenshot:

    Hi @anguschang007,

Simon jumping in here, I have been chatting with Julie about your questions so far, thanks for all the information!

Could you let me know what plugin or settings page you are using to set this mapping? I’m afraid I’m not familiar with how this works to gather the data from Facebook, as our plugin is only responsible for adding products to the Facebook product catalog.

Are you able to view the product in your Catalog Manager and let me know what Product Group ID is listed? It should be available in the pop-up window after clicking/selecting a product: https://cloud.skyver.ge/jkuQb844

If you click the View More Fields button, this should also show you a list of fields for the product, including the item ID and the item group ID. Do these currently show what you’d expect to see, or are they matching what is shown in your last screenshot?

    Cheers!

    Simon.

    Hi @simonskyverge,

I am using the following plugin to set the mapping:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woo-product-feed-pro/

You can check the following screenshot, there has the group ID:
    https://prnt.sc/tlyle3
I am using the SKU parent variable product as the group ID now.

Yes, I know your plugin is only responsible for adding products to Facebook, just like the following Facebook Pixel Helper information:
    https://prnt.sc/tlyoo1
The information is generating from your plugin, right?

However, the issue is not only me that I am facing. Other guys have the same issue:
