    Plugin and database:
    – Plugin version 2.2.3
    – Local BIN database, version March 2015

    Setting:
    – Frontend blocking is not enabled, allowed for all countries.
    – Backend blocking is enabled with all countries selected except a few. Hungary is blocked too.

    Response for IP Query:
“IP address 178.164.225.54 belongs to Hungary.”
“Visitors from this country are being blocked from accessing your frontend website.”

    Questions:
    1) The IP query response does not say that the country is blocked for backend access, instead it says frontend access. Why?
    2) Does blocking backend access include the login page?

Thank you for your answer. The screen shot of the settings has just been emailed.

Strangely, the mentioned IP address manages to do login attempts on the login page although it is blocked for backend access. The same happens with other addresses which should be blocked according to the IP query.

I would like to add that the statistic page shows 0 pages blocked for the last 30 days and it says ‘no data’.

Upgrading to plugin version 2.4.4 fixed the wrong IP query response and the statistic now starts to show blocked pages. Thanks a lot for your support.

We now received an email notification triggered by the plugin about too many failed login attempts from IP 27.153.235.75. According to the IP Query this IP belongs to China and is blocked from accessing the admin area.

    Above you mentioned that:

Anyway, the backend blocking included the login page.

Please clarify and advise why this visitor was able to access the login page anyway.

Another example is IP 195.154.251.120: According to IP Query belonging to France (database April 2015) and blocked from accessing the admin area. However, the IP is able to access the login page and to attempt to login. Please advise.

Yet another exapmple: IP 91.200.12.50 (Ukraine), blocked according to the plugin’s IP Query, nevertheless able to access the login page.

It was a bug found in the plugin. It has been solved in version 2.3.2.
    Thanks for reporting this.
