wrong language for results in "Install Plugins" > search results

I am searching in my wordpress admin for plugins to install and the results are all coming up in Polish instead of English. Furthermore I can’t even see any English plugins which I know exist.
What’s going on? Why can’t I see English results when I search in the wordpress admin Install Plugins search?
