• Hello,
The wp-store locator shows a long location I have a location added to the plugin as Jackson Michigan the store locator on search lists Jackson Florida and gives no results message. How can I avoid this, so the correct store is listed?

What’s the URL, and what should I search for to see the problem.

you can check for the locations Jackson, Plymouth, Novi
it works as expected only if the user types Jackson, mi but Jackson gives no results and displays the Florida location on the map is there a workaround where the user doesn’t need to enter the state along with the city.
you can experience this when using the search field on the site header or even on the search module on the location page.

The problem is that Jackson exists multiple times in the US, so it’s hard for the Google Geocode API to predict which one your looking for without including the state name

The only way to fix this, without having the include the state name is by enabling the autocomplete option.

But be careful with this on high traffic websites, since it will make more API calls in the background. How to set budget alerts is explained here.

Thank you for sharing this info, we already have the auto complete enabled but that doesnt resolve the issue

With resolving the issue you mean that it doesn’t work with just typing in “jackson”, or that even when you include the state it still shows the wrong results?

Just searching for “jackson” won’t work because there are to many locations with the same name in the US, so the Google Geocode API will need more data to return the expected results.

This is the same problem if you would search for just ‘second street’ or so. Google will just pick one, but it might not be the one your looking for, unless you include more data.
