Wrong prices showing in order details
-
Hi,
I’ve had some trouble with the prices not showing correctly. I’ve unchecked the multi-currency and deactivated my flycart plugin, so I’m now at least getting the right price in the storefront. Depending on where I was on my site, I would see prices in 3 different currencies and they wouldn’t be converted right either.
I am now getting the wrong price in the order details. The price shows correctly on the product page, in the cart, in checkout, and in the order confirmation email. However, in the order details the price is incorrect.
Customer location is set to geolocate. Tax rates are enabled and I haven’t changed them since December. Prices are set to be entered/displayed with tax. Tax is set to be calculated by customer’s shipping address.
I hope you can help fix this because I don’t know what else to do,
Ana

The images I added aren’t showing so hopefully you can see these ones. This is the same order.
Hi @ananight,
I understand that you’re experiencing issues with the price display in the order details even after deactivating the multi-currency and flycart plugin.
This is quite odd to have prices differ in your store. As you’re already running on the default theme (Storefront), I recommend testing out with only having WooCommerce as the active theme to see if this issue persists.
Also, do you remember making any changes to your site before the issue started?
Looking forward to your reply.
Hi,
I tried deactivating all plugins except for WooCommerce and it didn’t change anything. The prices are still showing wrong in the order details.
From what I recall, I haven’t changed or added anything right before this started.
Here’s a system report in case you need it.

Hey, @ananight!
Thanks for the SSR and the information!
I wanted to clarify a few things:
- On the order details from the back end it shows a coupon being used. Do you know if one was in fact used on the order?
- The first screenshot, did you take it from the checkout page?
- As I understand the correct prices are on the first screenshot, correct?
- When you deactivated all plugins to test, did you make a new order to see if the issue persisted or did you look at the old order? The reason I’m asking, is that it is possible that the old orders won’t go back to normal, so we need to check with new ones
- Is this happening with every order or only some?
- Do you have orders with this issue that were purchased with different payment gateways?
Can you please share the Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.
You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.Looking forward to your reply.
Have a wonderful day!
Hi,
The first screenshot is from checkout. The price is right at 14.99 and that’s what shows on the order confirmation, too. The second screenshot is from the order details of the same order. Yes, the coupon is on both and it worked perfectly.
The screenshots are from before turning off the plugins, but I recreated the order while they were off and it went through the exact same: right price showing everywhere except the order details.
This seems to be happening with every order.
I don’t have another payment gateway to try? I only have woopayments? I did have Paypal for WooCommerce but the last update crashed my site so I deleted it a few weeks ago.
I checked the logs for fatal errors but there weren’t any?
Ana
Hello Ana Night,
Thank you for your reply.
At this point, I need more information to understand what is causing this issue.
Could you share multiple screenshots of the orders and their order details?
I want to check if there is a pattern in the change of the price (14.99 → 11.99).I suggest trying offline payment methods like Cash on Delivery or Bank Transfer and checking whether the issue persists.
I noticed that you have the Code Snippets plugin installed.
Share a screenshot of the custom code you have in that plugin.Once I have more information, I will be in a better position to help you further. ??
Best regards.
Hi Zubair,
The prices change from 14.99 $ to 11.99 $ every time. The same happens in other currencies. The products at 14.99 $ are 102,44 DKK and those change to 81,95 DKK. At first I thought it might be removing the VAT from the prices somehow, but the percentages don’t match the prices.
The wrong price happens when I manually create an order inside WooCommerce>Orders too (see screenshot). Selecting different billing/shipping country doesn’t change anything either.
I enabled cash on delivery and created an order. The total ended up being correct, but it shows cost and the total price without tax and then the correct tax (see screenshot). The total price should be WITH the tax, right?
The products in the screenshot are supposed to be 90,82 kr. and 97,31 kr. for the bottom two. So with the cost and VAT, it does make the right price, it just doesn’t show it.
Here’s what I have in the Snippets plugin. I’ll add the code used below the screenshot:
// Add “Add to Cart” buttons in Divi shop pages
add_action( ‘woocommerce_after_shop_loop_item’, ‘woocommerce_template_loop_add_to_cart’, 20 );add_filter( ‘wc_add_to_cart_message_html’, ‘__return_null’ );
// don’t display url field in comments form
function ds_customize_divi_comments_url_field ($fields) {
// Remove the website url field
if(isset($fields[‘url’]))
unset($fields[‘url’]);
return $fields;
}
add_filter(‘comment_form_default_fields’, ‘ds_customize_divi_comments_url_field’);add_filter( ‘comment_form_default_fields’, ‘tu_comment_form_change_cookies_consent’ );
function tu_comment_form_change_cookies_consent( $fields ) {
$commenter = wp_get_current_commenter();
$consent = empty( $commenter[‘comment_author_email’] ) ? ” : ‘ checked=”checked”‘;
$fields[‘cookies’] = ‘<p class=”comment-form-cookies-consent”><input id=”wp-comment-cookies-consent” name=”wp-comment-cookies-consent” type=”checkbox” value=”yes”‘ . $consent . ‘ />’ .
‘<label for=”wp-comment-cookies-consent”>Save my name and email in this browser for the next time I comment</label></p>’;
return $fields;
}
add_filter( 'woocommerce_states', 'custom_ca_states', 10, 1 );
function custom_ca_states( $states ) {

Hey, @ananight!
Thanks for all the information!
The total price should be WITH the tax, right?
Yes, the expected behavior would be to show total as the price with taxes, and next show how much was the taxes.
When you tried the conflict test, did you also deactivated the snippet plugin to remove all custom code?
If you didn’t, can you please do to check if one of the snippets is interfering with this?As my colleague mentioned, I would suggest keep testing with Cash On Delivery, which is a default payment method. Once we get it to work correctly, we can move to test with WooPayments to see if the issue persits.
Can you also please check if the issue happens with a previous WooCommerce version? Please test this while having only WooComemerce active (no other exceptions) and the Storefront theme active.
You can find older versions to download here.
If you prefer, you can also use a plugin such as WP Rollback to help you with this process. You can find the plugin here.
I suggest creating a staging site, so you don’t need to keep changing things on the live site ??
You can ask your host if they offer this service, or you can use WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.
Looking forward to your reply.
Have a wonderful day!
When I create an order with a billing/shipping address in one of the countries I have VAT on for, it seems to be taking the VAT off the price (showing 11.99 instead of 14.99) and if the address is in a country with VAT then it’ll add the VAT (the price will show as cost: 11.99. Total: 11.99. VAT: 3), but if it’s in a country without VAT, it just keeps the price without VAT (eg. 11.99 instead of 14.99).
I have prices entered with tax checked and the prices entered are 14.99.
Hey, @ananight!
It seems we replied at the same time. Let me address your last message too. please check my previous reply ??
but if it’s in a country without VAT, it just keeps the price without VAT (eg. 11.99 instead of 14.99).
This is expected behavior.
When you set it to add prices including taxes, the system will do the following:
- Let’s say you added a product that costs 99 and you set the taxes on the country your store is located to 10%
- The system will then have the price of the product without taxes be 90 and calculate any other tax you add based on that
- So if you have 20% taxes for a country different then yours it will calculate the price to be 108, because the base price is 90
- And if there’s a country with no taxes, the price will be only the base price, so 90
When I create an order with a billing/shipping address in one of the countries I have VAT on for, it seems to be taking the VAT off the price (showing 11.99 instead of 14.99) and if the address is in a country?with?VAT then it’ll add the VAT (the price will show as cost: 11.99. Total: 11.99. VAT: 3)
Do you mind clarifying this part?
I’m not sure I fully understood how it shows if the country has VAT.
Can you please share a screenshot of the taxes you have set up?
Looking forward to your reply.
Have a wonderful day!
Hi,
Yes, Snippets was also deactivated.
I’m not sure I understand how I’m then supposed to get the right prices in different countries? The prices has to show with VAT included for EU. That’s the only place I need VAT except for the UK which is at 0%.
Let’s see if I can explain it better.
An order in an EU country looks like this in the order details:
Cost: 11.99 $
Price: 11.99 $
VAT: 3 $
An order anywhere else looks like this in the order details:
Cost: 11.99 $
Price: 11.99 $
This is the one that needs to be 14.99 $. How do I then make that happen?
Hi @ananight
Since you have set up your WooCommerce store to show prices, including VAT, when an order is placed from a country with VAT, the system calculates and displays the VAT separately (Cost: 11.99, VAT: 3).
However, when an order is placed from a country without VAT, the system shows the price without VAT (11.99) because you’ve set your store to display prices inclusive of VAT, and there is no VAT to include for these countries.
To show prices as 14.99 in countries without VAT, you would need to set up the prices exclusive of VAT. This way, the system will show the price as 14.99 regardless of whether the country has VAT or not. More info: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/wiki/How-Taxes-Work-in-WooCommerce
I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
Hi Shameem,
That doesn’t help. It is illegal to show prices without VAT in my country.
I think I’ve found somewhat of a solution, though. I’ve changed the shop country to one without VAT and aside from the prices with VAT being a bit higher than before, the ones without VAT are now 14.99 along with the one that has 0% VAT, so at least I’m not losing money anymore.
I’m not sure if it’s important, but in the order details it is still supposed to show the correct total, yes? It’s showing cost: 14.99. VAT: 3.75 Total: 14.99. But the total is supposed to be the cost + VAT. Eg. 18.74. The order total is showing the correct price, though. As is the invoice.
I appreciate everyone’s help with this. It just sucks that Woo is set up this way.
Ana
Hi @ananight
I understand your concern and appreciate your effort to find a solution. The total should be the sum of the cost and VAT. If it’s not showing correctly, it could be due to a configuration issue.
I suggest you to double-check your tax settings to ensure they’re set up correctly. You can follow this guide for setting up taxes in WooCommerce: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/setting-up-taxes-in-woocommerce/
