Wrong share count on home page

We are currently experiencing an issue affecting connections to Meta (Facebook/Instagram).

The issue prevents posts from being shared via our Publicize service, as well as the Instagram widget and Instagram Gallery Block.

The issue is under review as we speak, and we are waiting for a resolution by Meta before services can be restored.

This issue is affecting WordPress.com, as well as Jetpack-connected sites and the Jetpack Social plugin.

Please do not take any action with your Facebook or Instagram connections yet.

the issue you mention I experienced it TODAY, but my problem comes from earlier, since a couple of months ago.

So my problem was previous to this issue and I would be really thankfull if you could check my home page and help me finding the problem that makes all my share counters on home are showing the same number of shared.

That Facebook count button doesn’t look like ours – I imagine it’s being generated by a different plugin.

That being said, I checked the connection to your site and it doesn’t appear you have Jetpack installed or connected.

If you would like to use our social sharing features, you’ll want to deactivate whatever you’re currently using and then install, activate, and connect the Jetpack plugin on your site and then follow these instructions:

I do see that the counts still are all the same on the front page, even when they’re different on the actual posts themselves.

I do see you currently have 50 active plugins (some of them directly affecting social features of WordPress), and something may be conflicting with Jetpack’s display of those share counts.

Would you be able to try disabling all other plugins except for Jetpack to see if the issue continues? If everything looks normal while doing so, then you can switch on each other plugin one by one until you see the problem happen again.

If you still see the issue even with all other plugins disabled, could you also try switching out your theme for a more minimalistic one (such as Twenty Twenty Two) to make sure this isn’t some sort of theme conflict?

thanks, deactivating JNews theme and switching to 2022 as you recommended and the problem dissapeared.

So the problem is some configuration of actual theme.

Any recommendation on how to solve it?

Layout, third party themes, or any other non Jetpack-related items are definitely outside the scope of our support since we only develop the Jetpack plugin itself, not WordPress at large. The best options for help on that would be the support team for your JNews theme, which I’ve found here for you:

So, we wouldn’t be able to help you with that directly, but I hope this points you in the right direction and they’re able to figure out why the counts are being mirrored only on the front page!
