    USPS Simple calculated three items weighing 6.25 pounds as $12.20 when the actual cost was $21.65. The settings appear to be correct.

    How do I fix this?

    Could you please provide us details to reproduce:
    – store origin postcode;
    – total weight of the order;
    – dimensions of the items in the order;
    – shipping destination postcode;
    – what shipping options you get for the order;
    – what shipping options you expect to get instead;

    Dan,

    Thanks for responding.

    -store origin postcode: 85021
    -total weight of the order: 6.25 lbs
    -dimensions of the items in the order:
    4.5″ x 4.5″
    11.5″ x 6.5″ x 1.875″
    9″ x 8″

    -what shipping options you get for the order: USPS Priority Mail and USPS Parcel Select

    Thank you.

    I have had to make some assumptions to reproduce the issue:
    1. You have “Priority use Commercial Base Pricing” and “Quote regular items by weight” checked (screenshot).
    2. Two items don’t have the height specified. So I assume they have negligible height, like posters, or something.
    3. The plugin doesn’t have a ‘USPS Parcel Select’ rate. I assume that was the ‘USPS Priority Mail 2-Day Regional Rate Box A’ since it’s the only one I can find on the USPS price calculator page with the price $12.10. The plugin shows it as “Priority Mail? (USPS Simple): $12.10″ unless renamed for the order you described.

    Please correct me if something is wrong.

    Given that, I’m wondering why the ‘USPS Priority Mail 2-Day Regional Rate Box A’, with a box size of 12–13/16″ x 10–15/16″ x 2–3/8” and 70 lbs weight limit, wasn’t considered suitable for the order.

    Dan,

    I ran a test order and found the issue.

    Here’s a link to a link to png screenshot

    Here are the details:

    – store origin postcode: 85021
    – total weight of the order:7.5 lbs
    – dimensions of the items in the order:
    Mid-Century Bohemian Green Glass Set: Decanter: 10.125″ x 4″ x4″; 5 Glasses: 2.625″ 2″ x 2″ each
    – shipping destination postcode: 19151
    – what shipping options you get for the order:
    Priority Mail? (USPS Simple): $12.10
    USPS Retail Ground? (USPS Simple): $33.90
    Media Mail (USPS Simple): $6.52
    – what shipping options you expect to get instead: Priority Mail and USPS Retail Ground

    How do I change the shipping setting so that combined orders work correctly?

    Thank you for the details.

    What prices do you expect to get for the Priority Mail and USPS Retail Ground shipping options?

    Also, do you have any of the “Priority use Commercial Base Pricing” and “Quote regular items by weight” options enabled?

    What prices do you expect to get for the Priority Mail and USPS Retail Ground shipping options?

    I would ship these orders separately as follows:

    Priority Retail Ground Box Size
    $15.79 $15.74 12″ x 12″ x12″
    $11.19 $10.89 12″ x 12″ x 8″
    $18.14 $17.79 12″ x 12″ x12″

    $44.42. $44.07

    I would not ship this order in one box as it would trigger dimensional shipping costs of about $83.52 for Priority Mail

    “Priority use Commercial Base Pricing” and “Quote regular items by weight” options are enabled.

    The issue is that the plugin doesn’t check if order items fit into the USPS boxes when “Quote regular items by weight” is enabled. Instead, it checks for the total weight of all regular-sized items and shows the lowest price received per service. We have plans on implementing box packing but no estimate yet.

    At the moment, you might get better results if you disable “Quote regular items by weight”. This way, it would get rates for each item individually. That would result in shipping prices for your customers being equal to or greater than the actual costs charged by USPS from you.
