• I am using WordPress 5.3.2 running Twenty Seventeen theme.

[Background]: I have two videos, one about an egret release and one about balloons. I made a blog posting on October 31st with the egret video embedded. That video displays and plays correctly. Time passed and other postings were made. Then on January 15th I made a posting about balloons and embedded the balloon video. I do know the correct URLs for each of these videos.

If I edit the balloon posting, I see the balloon video. If I preview the balloon posting, I see the balloon video. If I open the balloon posting directly on the website I see the balloon video. But my theme also displays a number of my most recent postings on the home page with the most recent at the top. [Problem:] And on the home page that same balloon posting has the egret video embedded instead of the balloon video.

The egret posting also appears farther down on the home page and it correctly displays the egret video.

I’ve looked at the list of postings in the admin area and there is no hidden or partially finished posting to confuse WordPress. I have deleted and re-created the balloon posting. It still displays incorrectly on the home page.

Any idea how to fix this?

    Thank you, –Brian

  • Did you fix it? I see the correct videos for both posts, on the home page.
Perhaps you were running into caching issues?

    I think so.
It was displaying incorrectly on my desktop, my iPad, and my Android phone before all of my attempts to fix it this afternoon. So something was definitely wrong. I did all of my troubleshooting on the desktop and it just kept displaying wrong, but I never re-checked the other devices. I just looked at my phone and iPad and they were both still displaying it wrong. Then I reloaded them and they now both display correctly. But the desktop does not. So maybe the persistence of the problem was actually a cache problem.

I hate clearing my cache. Maybe I’ll just put up with it until I make another posting and hope the new version will be cached correctly.
    Thank you for your help!
