I’m using Imagify, and I notice that one of the image sizes to be optimized is called wysija-newsletters-max and it’s 600×9999 I looked at a product image of mine and that particular thumbnail size is 149k in size. Isn’t this a little large file size for including in email newsletters? Is that going to affect deliverability? I mean, what if I have several blog posts in the newsletter, those image sizes would add up very quickly… Unless I’ve misunderstood something?

  • Hey! Good question.

Image sizes can affect deliverability in some email clients. Unless you have hundreds of them, you should be fine.

hundreds? It wouldn’t take hundreds of emails with 100k+ size images to make the email very big and longer to load.. I guess I won’t worry about it if it’s not a problem.

Hundreds might have been a bit too much.

If you have a dozen, you’re fine. ??

Hi MDC2957. i had a similar problem. When i received the newsletter on my e-mail client (gmail in my case) the post thumbnail is not showed. After investigate and discover that MailPoet creates a 600×9999 size thumbnail, i’ve decided to edit the “wysija-newsletters-max” value for 150×150.
This line is in the base.php file, inside core folder.

I hope the MailPoet team resolve this point in next versions of plugin, indeed, a great plugin!.

Maybe giving to user the chance of set the thumbnail size or capturing the media defaults values

    Regards from Chile.

I am not sure if this is the right link to raise my question, but after bouncing around the MailPoet plugin and forum for several hours, this is as good a place as any.

I am usually very patient, but MailPoet has tried my patience to the point of deleting it and installing an alternative.

This is what has driven me to the point of despair:

    1. After installing the plugin on my WordPress site, which uses the Twenty Thirteen theme, and making the settings as I wanted them, I tested the sign-up form. Sometimes it worked but at other times I got a form error message. The only cure seemed to be to delete the sign up form in use and create a new one. In desperation I made a fresh install of the plugin from within the settings. Since then I have not tested the sign-up form.

    2. I then tried to create a newsletter for immediate delivery after somebody signs-up. The immediate problem was that no matter how I tried I could not add text to the newsletter despite dragging the text widget to the appropriate place. Nothing happened when I did as instructed on screen and tried to “click here to add text”. This design element did not work. For the record, all of the other design items worked.

Now, I notice that MailPoet has not been tested with WordPress 4.6 and maybe there is a conflict there.

On the face of it, MailPoet could be just what I need – provided it can be made to work properly.

As I said, I am a patient person and am willing to try to resolve these problems providing it can be done within a reasonable period of time. Any ideas on how to get MailPoet working properly would be appreciated.

Here is an update to my previous post, which sheds some light (and a lot of gloom) over part of the problems I have encountered in using MailPoet.

I still could not put ant text in the newsletter, so (in Firefox) I right-clicked over the widget and selected “inspect element” from the drop down list. I then right-clicked on the selected HTML code and selected “edit HTML”. After a bit of trial and error I was able to insert the small amount of text that I wanted.

The problem might be that the text box was fixed at a small size and was not responding. More by luck than judgement, I was able to modify the HTML to put in the brief amounts of text that I wanted. O.K. that workround solved my immediate problem, but it still remains that the heading and text widget is not working.

I like this plugin it actually okay with my online eCommerce website. it gave me what i needed actually. Thanks

    Hello afripasglobal,

I am glad this plugin works for you and I hope you continue to be happy with it.

Potentially, MailPoet looked to be just what I wanted, which is why I installed it. However, it did not work and there has been no feedback from the plugin’s creators – not even to say they are looking at the issues raised. I have now deleted the plugin.
