wysiwyg editor and misty-look problems

Using the default editor, the editor loads and loads, but never switches from the HTML to the formatted text and the buttons. When the ‘save’ button is pressed, the buttons and formatted text finally show up, however briefly before exiting the page. This is a fairly recent problem, but I can’t tie it to any changes I have recently made. What could cause it?
