Xmlrpc incorrect username or password

  • I cannot get xmlrpc to recognize my administrator login credentials. I can access xmlrpc.php without any trouble, and get the appropriate message:XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only. But from several different apps (ios blog editing apps and Lightroom plugins) I get: incorrect username or password when I try to login. My host doesn’t block xmlrpc, and I tried temporarily disabling mod_security just to be sure. I know in previous WP editions there was a setting that needed to be checked to enable writing xmlrpc, but that hasn’t been true for awhile.

    WordPress 3.6 (but this behavior existed in 3.5x) running in its own directory
    Shared account on Lunarpages
    Using Cloudflare DNS servers (but behavior pre-dates that change)

    Any insight would be much appreciated.
