• I’m trying to use the iOS WordPress app with my self-hosted site. I am unable to do so, and in the troubleshooting steps it says to “verify that xmlrpc.php is functioning properly.” When I attempt to do so, I load the link in the EditURI tag into Chrome, and it immediately redirects to 127.0.0.1.

I’ve checked my .htaccess and it has nothing about redirecting this link. What should I be looking to change to fix this and allow connectivity between the iOS app and my blog?

  • Your site may be running behind a proxy or may be improperly configured. It could also be that your host has disabled the link to prevent attacks from taking up server resources.

Are you able to contact your host to see if there is a global block? The fact that it is redirecting is a tall tale sign that there is some type of monitor in place.

Yeah, that’s what it looks like is happening. If I look at the raw apache access logs, requests to xmlrpc.php are returning a 301 status code (permanent redirect). I’ll send a query to my host to find out if he’s set up a global redirect (I know there have been security issues before that he’s probably tamped down).
