[solved – see post for solution] XOAUTH2 authentication mechanism not supported

Reran Wizard and changed from SMTP to Gmail API, reran OATH and its now working.

SOLUTION THAT WORKED FOR ME: Try changing from SMTP to the appropriate API e.g. Gmail Api in settings, rerun Oath and test.

Getting same message here.
Tried what you suggest but still doesn’t work.
I get this instead with Gmail API:

Do not know how to execute this type of object.

yep again….

But this time I first got this message:

XOAUTH2 authentication mechanism not supported

and the other message, as previous time, came only when I tried to change to the API.
I contacted the host again and they didn’t find anything wrong at their side.

But I sent them again your Connection Diagnostics with this in Summary, which is different from last time:

Port 25 is open, but not to https://www.googleapis.com.
Port 465 is open, but not to https://www.googleapis.com.
Port 587 is open, but not to https://www.googleapis.com.

and I wait to see what they say.
Last time it took them also some time to understand the issue was at their side.

Can I ask where do you host?

This site is at Webhostface which, other than that, is excellent for shared.

They just replied that they found the issue at their side and problem is indeed solved. I have to say that both times they solved the problem within a couple of hours.

That means also that this error is really host/server related and it doesn’t help changing settings.

Please start charging for this plugin. It’s so important to us and so much better than others. If you charge, it will justify the work.
