• hello everybody

I am running a website in xoops, it is basically one module where I write and submit images… I have been considering lately to move the website to wordpress, but I am not fully convinced and that is why I am looking for some feedback here

can you give me some reasons/advantages that I will have if I move up to wordpress?? I already have a clue on how to do the migration and it is a hard work, but as while I believe wordpress has more chances to be improved nowdays, I don’t know how the performance would be, it is a big site with over 30000 posts and thousands of users submiting content

thanks in advance for your comments

It’s really hard to do that! Everyone uses WordPress for their own reasons. I would lay out a list of what you HAVE to be able to do in your CMS. What features do you consider requirements, which ones can you live without.

Then, if WordPress still seems viable after that, make a temp WordPress site and see if you can do what you want, on a small scale.

Without being you, though, and without knowing the details of what you’d want to use it for, I don’t think anyone can say for certain which is better.

    thanks for the answer Ipstenu!

the thing is that everything I have, I know how to move it to wordpress, is the performance what intrigues me

I am extremly happy using wordpress in lots of my websites, but this don’t even get to 1000 posts, I have no clue how it will perform with over 30000 posts, as xoops handles it pretty well

but I see your point, thanks

Speed and size wise, the only problem with WP that I’ve seen with 30k posts or so is that sometimes the edit post screen hangs a little.

My larger concern would be user management since WordPress isn’t really great at that ??
