  • Hi @kenzie0402,

When you get a chance, could you please share the error details after sending the test email from WP Mail SMTP > Email Test. From the details in the screenshot, it seems the receiving mail server is rejecting the email due to the DMARC policy. Yahoo has the super strong DMARC policy to prevent spam and spoofing, for the emails that are not sent from the Yahoo server.

    Thanks!

    Hello Sanjeev,

    Thanks for the reply back!

Here is the error message that we got:

5.7.26 Unauthenticated email from yahoo.com is not accepted due to domain’s 5.7.26 DMARC policy. Please contact the administrator of yahoo.com domain 5.7.26 if this was a legitimate mail. Please visit 5.7.26 https://support.google.com/mail/answer/2451690 to learn about the 5.7.26 DMARC initiative.

So you are right about the DMARC, but I’m not sure what all of that means or how to fix it.

    Thanks!

    Hi @kenzie0402,

It means you’re sending emails from your site with Yahoo email address as a sender’s address but it is not sent from the Yahoo server. There’s no technical workaround to bypass a DMARC restriction. You might try sending emails from your email domain in WP Mail SMTP > Settings > From Email and/or adjust your domain’s DMARC policy. For more information, please contact your host support.

    Thanks!

Hi @kenzie0402 – We haven’t heard from you in about a week, so I’m going to go ahead and mark this ticket resolved. If you still have questions, though, please feel welcome to continue the conversation.

    Hi @kenzie0402,

it looks like yahoo made some changes on how to authenticate via their SMTP.

The password you use to login to the yahoo.com website is not the correct password to use in the WP Mail SMTP plugin settings (Other SMTP mailer -> password field).

Please login to your Yahoo account and go to the “Account security” page: https://login.yahoo.com/account/security. At the bottom of the page you will see the “Generate app password” and click on it: https://a.supportally.com/beddj5

Then from the dropdown select “Other app” and give it a name (“WP Mail SMTP” for example) and click on “Generate”.

Copy the generated password and use it in our plugin settings (Other SMTP mailer -> password field).

I’ve tested this out with my yahoo.com account and the email sending from WP Mail SMTP started to work.

Let me know, if this works for you as well.

    Have a nice day!
