The Yandex search engine reported that 90% of the site’s materials do not have the required field

    <meta name = "description" content = "text here" />

between <head> </head>. Why did your plugin allow this problem and how to fix it?

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out. We viewed the page source and there is no meta description defined. Can you share a screenshot of what you have entered in the Yoast SEO plugin as the meta description for the page?

    Thanks for sharing.

We have a knowledge base article on how to resolve the issue with the meta description not showing in the head section – https://yoast.com/help/im-not-seeing-a-meta-description-in-my-head-section/

you need to make your shortcodes work in all taxonomies, not just posts

Can you confirm if the issue has been resolved for posts?

Can you confirm you will make your shortcodes work in all taxonomies?

@triptikon The shortcode template variables should already work by default in taxonomies as well, but if they aren’t we can certainly check into this issue.

Can you please let us know what taxonomy type you are not seeing a template variable work correctly in, and what you have set for the ‘SEO title’ setting for that taxonomy type? Also, if you can include an example URL of one of the pages where it isn’t working that would also be helpful.

well I inserted the shortcode “the excerpts” into the meta description of the tags, but in reality the field was empty

    Plugin Support devnihil

    (@devnihil)

@triptikon That is because the %%excerpt%% template variable is used for calling the defined excerpt from a post/page, or auto-generating one from the post/page’s content if it does not exist. This variable is not for use with a tag page which is why if you attempt to use it, no value is returned for it.

You can view a list of the available template variables and a description for their usage here: https://yoast.com/help/list-available-snippet-variables-yoast-seo/

    Thread Starter Triptikon

    (@triptikon)

then why isn’t there a separate shortcode for tags in this case?

    Plugin Support devnihil

    (@devnihil)

@triptikon Can you please clarify what you mean? Tags do not have an excerpt, nor is there content in the body of a tag page, as it displays links to posts with that tag assigned to them.

An excerpt is either manually specified on a post, or is generated from the content contained within the body of the post. What would be the data that would be expected to be returned from an excerpt from a tag?

    Thread Starter Triptikon

    (@triptikon)

You can add a description to each tag. And then excerpt could be added to the meta description.

Thanks for suggesting a new feature for our plugin. We’re actively using the bug tracking on our GitHub repository so your best next step would be to create a new feature request for our developers at https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/new. You can create a new issue to submit your feature request. You will need an account to create one.
