    Hi!
I have set post category ‘news’ as default. Now, I got other categories all with separate templates, and they behave well when I enter for example:
    siteurl/other-cat/2013/
But when I try to do that with ‘news’ cat, wp decides not to use template category-news.php but index.php, and refuses to list 2013 posts but lists ALL posts instead.

Also, I have this custom post type ‘press-clipping’. I have a template archive-press-clipping.php, which works. But when I try to enter year in custom post type URL like:
    siteurl/press-clipping/2013/
    WordPress uses ‘archive.php’ template file.

    Any suggestions please?

    [No bumping, thank you.]

Oh, I guess I should feel embarrassed now…
Thing is – there was a long-forgotten page named ‘news’ so the slug itself was reserved and therefore produced strange behavior…
