• Hi everyone,
I have finally set up my WordPress 2.0 blog. I modified K2 theme to get it to look like I wanted it to.
Right now, it does not validate because of my Flash header, but I will look into that.
The reason of my post is… well.. I would quite like to get your comments on the look and feel of it.
Unfortunately, some of the pages/sections are not filled out yet. They will be quite soon, though.

Thank you for stopping by and checking it out.

    Cheers,
    iso

ps. I guess the url might help ?? https://www.isotrope.net

Sorry to *bump* this, but I would really appreciate any helpful comments.

    Cheers ??

Seriously…I just took a quick glance at it. And I think it has a 70’s look and vibe.. but posting a “bump” right after posting it isn’t going to win you medals or honors with others.. other then that, it’s nice.. =)

I love the footer. I would not have guessed it was a modified K2, you’ve really made it your own.

    Thank you for your replies.
spencerp, you’re right. I really should have waited longer before bumping it. It’s not a practice that I particularly like doing. And I hope I didn’t anger anyone too much. I was so excited to show it and was simply afraid that it would fall into the eternal abyss of posts. So, my apologies to everyone.

Thank you very much for the positive comments, though. They are much appreciated.

Would you maybe consider changing your links to a different color? They got lost on that backgroud? I like it though.

Just took a look at it, I can (barely) see the K2 base but excellent mod job. I also love the footer and the waves at the header.

    Overall very nice.

isotrope, it’s ok really..just at the time it “seemed” like you just bumped it not long after posting it. But maybe I’m wrong..I tend to refresh the index page a bit to see for new comments on my posts. But..like I said, it has that 60’s/70’s look to it…which kinda brings back some memories. =) It’s a nice blog…keep up the good work. =)

I like the 60’s 70’s feel of the site. It’s a bit busy. To improve that I would:
    – increase post font size a little
    – align meta info (below the post title) to the left
    – align comments to the left
    – remove the ads ?? you have the site for making money or for having fun?
    – do not center photo’s in posts

Very nice theme! Keep it up.

Once again, thank you all for your comments. They were quite helpful.

GMMR, I assume you meant the links in the sidebar. I tried messing around with the links’ color. I just couldn’t get something that I was really satisfied with. I have changed the hover color, though. It is now white. Hopefully, this will make it a little easier to read when you contrast between the white and the blue while hovering over it and off again. I will investigate the palette further…

Martijn, thank you for the checklist ??
    – increase post font size a little
    + done
    – align meta info (below the post title) to the left
    + done
    – align comments to the left
    + done
    – remove the ads ?? you have the site for making money or for having fun?
I am a bit unsure about this one. I doubt that I will be able to quit my dayjob with the blog, but I would really like to be able to get just enough to be able to switch hosts. Part of this project is for fun, yes. (I am a geek, absolutely) The other part of it is to learn web standards and CSS properly. I know that I won’t be making any money off of those ads anytime soon. I just wanted to see what happens. I will leave them for now. But I do understand your point-of-view.
    – do not center photo’s in posts
This is more of a redactorial issue than the theme itself. When I was posting that little article, I wanted to show off the effects with thumbnails. I was hesitant to use tables since I am under the impression that there is now a better way to align items. I completely agree that having 5 images that only take less than half of a column centered is not exactly the prettiest thing to see. I have yet to look for gallery plug-ins and such. And also, I still have some CSS learning to do.
    Thank you again.
    Cheers,
    iso

    Hey iso,

That’s quickly done and improving in my opinion. As to the ad thing I understand your curiosity. I would like to know too. Hope that works out well for you! As for the photo’s, I did quite some research for an album plugin but didn’t find one completely to my liking. The one I found best to my needs is autogallery https://kyrres.net/2005/02/04/autogallery/ It is in Danish however, which I can read only a tiny bit (I’m dutch). Maybe that works out for you also.

Have a look at my site https://www.bos89.nl for the plugin, look in archives for “Nina op het strand” to see it working. And please let me know what you think of my site and how it can be improved.

Text hard to read due to colors.
