yet another lockout – remove plug-in it works

hi all.
sorry if this is treated elsewhere but searching “lockout” yields so many results i gave up after 30 topics.
the issue is this: recently i couldn’t access admin or login. after palying around with the plugins in FTP i finally nailed the cause to better-wp-security: inhibiting this plugin allowed be to login. funny thing is, though i didn’t change a thing when i got the plugin working again everything was fine.
since this just happened to me again i thought i’d mention it.
i suspect (though i’m not absolutely sure) that the interval between the two incidents matches that of WP’s memory, i.e. the delay within which it doesn’t ask you for your PWD anymore.
