    Hey there!

My Yoast plugin was updated to the latest version ( 16.4 ) and I’m encountering an error when I edit a published post. The error I’m receiving is “The editor has encountered an unexpected error..” However, I do not get this error when editing pages.

I checked the console to get more info and noticed there was an error log –

TypeError: Cannot read property 'toLowerCase' of undefined wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/js/dist/externals/socialMetadataForms-1640.js:1:11100

I disabled the Yoast plugin and it resolved the issue; however, I need it activated for my SEO needs. Also, the Yoast settings and dashboard are not displaying for me as well.

The version of WP that I’m using is 5.7.2

    Please advise!

    Cheers.

We are sorry to hear that you’re having trouble using Yoast SEO. The issue you’re currently experiencing typically occurs due to a conflict. So, we’d like you to please perform a conflict check first. This will help us to identify the exact cause of the issue.

The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

If you do not feel comfortable to do this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.

We are going ahead and mark this topic as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance, feel free to create a new topic. Thank you!
