I’ve deleted that 5 star review because a) it was a duplicate topic, those get deleted and b) that’s not what the reviews are for. Asking questions belongs here.

This was the now deleted reply from @cybr

    Hello @frenchmedia,

Thank you for leaving a review.

This plugin is an alternative to many of the SEO plugins out there.

The main reason I’ve created this plugin is because I found other SEO plugins too overwhelming, especially for my target audience (people who don’t use their computer daily and just want a website).

The other reason is that I mainly work on WordPress MultiSite with users I know nothing about (like WordPress.com), and therefor I can’t trust them. This means I’ve secured every input there is within the plugin.

It’s also integrated with Domain Mapping by WPMUdev, so Google/Bing knows whether to look for www, the subdomain or subdirectory, or not. Through the canonical tag.

To take a more in-dept look:

This plugin is easy to use because it automatically does the basics of SEO, and it does it very well.
I use it on all my sites and because I don’t have much time to maintain them all, so I’ve automated the process. Thus the name AutoDescription.

It also tells you what can be improved per page with a nifty overview.

Also, there are extra features like local search exclusion and redirects.

It also uses per-page and per-post Genesis SEO settings, so you can easily switch from the default Genesis SEO settings to this plugin. The core code is based upon Genesis by StudioPress.

This means I’m bound to the GLPv2 license given by StudioPress, and therefor:
Above all this plugin is free to use and free to stay, without any commercials or other form of ads.
This means I want to maintain the look and feel of WordPress, so it looks like it’s supposed to be in WordPress.

This plugin (now containing more than 4000 lines of code, I think) takes a look at many parameters in WordPress, and pulls as much information needed without degrading significant performance for an automated SEO experience. It now uses only 0.3MB of RAM for example.

    But there’s more:
This plugin is actively maintained a new features are added on regular basis. Take a look at the changelog and you can see there are a lot of features added with each update. For example, this plugin now also looks for WordPress 4.3.0 site icons to be used as og:image (and twitter:image in the future).

    In the future:
This plugin is fairly young. A new update is underway with global admin and network admin options.
For now it doesn’t do everything for SEO, like Twitter, Google+ and Facebook integration. These are planned in the next update (somewhere next week).
SiteMaps are planned for this month. Robots.txt are planned next month.
I must note, because of my tight work schedule I can’t promise these updates within the given time frame.

I hope this clears things up ??

Thanks and have a wonderful day!

    Hi @frenchmedia

I’ve just pushed a massive update at the repository for AutoDescription, which has added a lot of SEO functionality.
With the focus on Social data, it now also allows you to control various other settings, like robots, title and the output of Open Graph.

Because Yoast’s plugin is more popular, I expected users to try and run them side-by-side. To prevent conflicts I’ve disabled most of the output when that happens (I’ve done so very early in the development of this plugin).

What actually happens is that almost all Yoast SEO’s plugin meta data will be output, and only the robots and og:image meta data will be output of AutoDescription. (I just tested this)

I believe that with the latest update of AutoDescription, you have gained more liberty in choosing the right plugin for you.

    I hope this helps!
I think it’s time for a new name for AutoDescription, but all the good names are already taken. ??

Thanks again and have another great day! ??
