Hi,
We would like some more information.
1. Are you using the free Yoast or the premium version of Yoast?
2. Are your other free plugins also updating as expected?
3. Are updates appearing in the right spot? For example, some themes or host providers provide a separate spot to update plugins. It may be in the Dashboard section (rather than the plugin section) or you may need to have the right permissions.
For example, if your site is a multisite you would need Network Admin privileges. If you are not sure what permissions you have, contact your host provider.
This is because the yoast text field on the page disappears, where the meta description etc. is entered. The error should be fixed in recent updates. I have also considering roll-back to version 9.1
To answer your questions
We use the free version and none of the other plugins have been updated for several weeks now. We use elegant themes, butI don’t think that is has an effect on this. Plugins are still updated as normal in wordpress. Can you please try the following steps to force an update?:
?-
Go to Plugins>Installed Plugins
Select the ‘Yoast SEO’ plugin
Click on the ‘Bulk Actions’ drop down list and select ‘Update’
Click ‘Apply’?If the update still does not appear after attempting to force the update, you can also prompt WordPress to recheck for updates by navigating to Dashboard>Updates.
If after attempting the force update you are still unable to see an available update, we would next recommend to try clearing your site’s cache. If you are not sure how to clear your server caching, please speak with your host provider. Does clearing your caching from your plugin, theme, server, browser, or CDN such as Cloudflare resolve the issue and allow you to successfully update the plugin?
If you are still unable to update the plugins after completing the aforementioned suggestions, you can also manually update the plugin. We have instructions on how to upgrade the plugin manually at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/#ftp. You will need an FTP program such as FileZilla and your FTP details, which can be obtained from your host provider.
Hallo Devnihil
I have tried the two former solutions without success. Have tried clear caching through our plugin, but also unsuccessfully.
The last solution you mention, does it have any negative impact on the seo that already exist?
No, performing a manual update of the plugin would not have any negative impact on your data. The optimizations and data you create with the plugin is stored in your WordPress database, independent of the plugin’s files so performing a manual upgrade of the plugin will not affect your data.
tried to update but unsuccessfully. Then I looked at the console (for a page) and this turned out. Thinking this might be the reason.
