Something super weird just happened. I had published my blog post (link above), made sure my Yoast was showing green light in both SEO + readability.

Then I went back to the blog post to fix a spelling error. Suddenly, both SEO + readability both showed red light. When I scroll, it says that I am missing outbound + inbound links, that the text is zero words. But the full blog post is still there, SEO optimized and easy to read.

I also tried to remove one of the outbound links and put it back in, but nothing changes with the red light. It’s super weird. What can have happened? Thank you so much.

  • Hi @carolinesoelver,

That does sound strange. We have a few questions for you to hopefully help us to understand this a bit more:

    1. Do you see any JavaScript errors when you edit a page? If so, please send us screenshots of the error. This guide explains more about how to check your browser’s console.

    2. Does clearing your cache from caching plugins, the server, a CDN like Cloudflare, or the browser resolve the issue? If you are not sure how to clear the cache from a plugin, please contact the plugin developers. To clear the cache from the server, please speak to your hosting provider.

    3. Does this problem still appear if you use a different browser, like Firefox or Chrome?

    I’m getting the same error.

“The text contains 0 words. This is far below the recommended minimum of 300 words.” This happens, even when I have over 300 words. Doesn’t appear to be counting properly.

    1. I don’t have any JavaScript errors.

    2. Clearing the cache does not correct anything.

    3. I have logged in using MS Edge, Firefox and Chrome and get the same response for all browsers.

    Hope you can help.
    Steve

My website hasn’t been changed for months, and I was just adding some new posts.

    Hi @spotter698 ,

We are sorry you’re having the same issue. Per the?forum guidelines, we ask that you please create separate topics for the issues you are experiencing.

That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance on your specific concerns on your specific site. Plus, you will get your own alerts for the issue rather than someone else’s. You may make a new topic here:?https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wordpress-seo/#new-post.

Also, before you create a new issue, we suggest you perform a conflict check first to isolate the problem.

    Thanks!

Sure, will do, even though it’s the same issue.

I am having this issue too, but I started a new thread

@zoedidthat Thanks for creating a new post for your issue. This is the best way to address your issue, as even the same issue can be caused by different variables so this helps us in tracking the cause in relation to other plugins/themes, and which versions might be contributing to the issue.

If you are using Page Builder by SiteOrigin, this could be causing the problem.

Here is a link to a resolution by SiteOrigin – https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/page-builder-by-siteorigin-appears-to-break-yoast-seo-word-count/#post-13426454

    Hi @spotter698,

Thanks for reporting the issue. If you’re using a page builder to add content, Yoast SEO may not be able to recognize all of the text. These types of compatibility issues usually have to be fixed by the page builder plugin authors.

We have more details in this guide: Error: The text contains 0 words.

Thank you so much. Now I just updates another blog post that was previously showing green light in both SEO and readability. After updating it, it shows red and orange. It’s very frustrating.
