    Hi all,

I have yoast and wordpress and woocommerce and use ahrefs to help with issues.

Now it is picking up that I have multiple sitemaps and I cannot seem to edit the yoast one.

One of the issues is: ‘Noindex page in sitemap’ that relates to basket and my-account.

Now how to I edit this in the yoast sitemap? I cant see the sitemap in file manager for the site either.

    Thank you

    Martin

    Hello Martin,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your sitemap.

Now it is picking up that I have multiple sitemaps and I cannot seem to edit the yoast one.

The Yoast SEO-generated XML sitemap should be /sitemap_index.xml/

One of the issues is: ‘Noindex page in sitemap’ that relates to basket and my-account.

Having the Basket and My Account pages set to noindex is a default WooCommerce setting. There should be no need for those pages to be indexed as they’re different per user.

Now how to I edit this in the yoast sitemap? I cant see the sitemap in file manager for the site either.

The Yoast SEO-generated XML sitemap is created on the fly. So it’s not a physical file on your server that can be edited as such.

    Hi,

Thank you for your response on this. That all makes sense but…

As said I am using ahrefs and it keep referencing different sitemaps.

    i.e. https://www.hartliphgv.co.uk/wp-sitemap-posts-page-1.xml

The basket and account are in the above – I was wondering if I can take them out of this sitemap via yoast or it is a wordpress thing?

    Thanks again

    Martin

    Hello Martin,

Yoast SEO doesn’t generate that sitemap URL you shared, but it’s a default WordPress sitemap that’s now returning a 404 error.

Do you have another plugin that manages your XML sitemaps? You would want to deactivate it and turn ON Yoast SEO’s. Please navigate to WordPress > Yoast SEO > Settings > General > Site Features > APIs and ensure you toggle the button to enable the Yoast SEO sitemap feature.
