Yoast cannot detect/recognize transition words in French language

    Hi,

    I am using Yoast SEO v21.7 on a WP site v6.4.2. My language is French.
    In order to improve readibility, i am using transition words. The list comme from Yoast GitHub repository (https://github.com/Yoast/YoastSEO.js/blob/develop/src/researches/french/twoPartTransitionWords.js and https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/blob/trunk/packages/yoastseo/src/languageProcessing/languages/fr/config/transitionWords.js).

    The strangest thing is that some of those words are not counted by the Yoast plugin on my site. Below, the bold underlinded words are not taken in consideration, while they are real transition words used in a right way. Underlined word are recognized correctly as transition words

    <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>A ce titre</span>, ils exercent dans leurs cabinets. Ils interviennent pour l’importation, la reproduction, l’alimentation, les soins, la préventions des zoonoses (maladies portées par animaux et se transmettant à l’Homme). <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>Mais </span>ils réalisent aussi de fréquentes euthanasies. <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>Enfin</span>, ils participent à l’éducation et à la formation des propriétaires d’animaux.

    Le vétérinaire intervient dans le cadre de la santé publique. Cela représente quelques % des vétérinaires en France.
    Ils participent à la protection des humains contre les maladies d’origine animale,?à l’inspection des denrées d’origine animale pour vérifier l’absence de dangers (bactéries pathogènes, champignons, produits chimiques.. dans les produits consommés frais ou de conserves).
    <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>En conséquence</span>, ce sont les vétérinaires de la santé publique qui imposent des rappels alimentaires, ferment des restaurants, interdisent la commercialisation d’huitres…

    Le vétérinaire intervient dans le cadre de la qualité de la vie, en collaborant à la lutte contre la pollution, au maintien de l’équilibre écologique,?à la protection de la faune.
    Les activités de loisirs (parcs zoologiques, équitation, pêche, chasse) sont aussi un lieu d’intervention. Cela permet de s’assurer que les conditions de l’environnement et des conditions de l’entretien de l’animal sont satisfaisantes.
    <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>A ce titre,</span> ce sont des acteurs très importants dans la lutte contre la pollution et dans la prévention de l’équilibre écologique.

    Le vétérinaire de recherche intervient dans la recherche scientifique. Cela représente quelques % des vétérinaires en France.
    <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>De plus</span>, sa formation pluridisciplinaire de biologiste fournit une habilitation à réaliser de l’expérimentation animale dans les secteurs privés et publics.

    Thanks for reaching out. I understand that the French transition words on your site are not detected by the readability analysis.

    We would like to let you know that the SEO and Readability analysis will work based on the default language set in the WordPress admin. You can change the default language by going to your WordPress admin dashboard, navigating to?Settings?>?General?>?Site Language, and selecting your preferred language.

    Thaks for you reply.
    The setting advised is already in place.

    The curious thing is some of the transition words are seen as such…
    No pattern, but i’ll do some test phrases and paragraphs.

    Any advice welcome.

    Hello @guiliguili, the transition words check is available in French. See the?full list of French transition words?and?two-part French transition?words?that Yoast SEO recognizes to ensure you use those recognized by our plugin.

    So we are not moving.

    Please pardon me, @guiliguili.

    So, I copied your text and created a post with it, and I can confirm the transition words were not identified.

    Next, I switched the Site Language from English to French, then refreshed and got, Mots de transition: Parfait?! Here’s a screenshot that shows the eye marker feature highlighting the sentences where the transition words were found.

    Please ensure the site language is in French and not another language so the content analysis analyses the correct language.

    Do let me know how it goes.

    Hi, thks for the follow-up.
    Mylanguage site is already in french. The swith french–> english, save, english–> french, save does not change anything.
    In your screenshot, _en conséquence_ should not be highlighted. It is a transition word and should not contribute to the warning “not enough tranition words”.
