I have just logged into WordPress and this notification is coming up for Yoast:

Because of a change in your permalink structure, some of your SEO data need to be reprocessed.

We estimate this will take a couple of minutes.

I have not made any changes to my permalink structure (that I am aware of – *newbie*).

Should I press the button that says: Start SEO Data Optimisation?

Can someone please advise how to proceed as I am nervous this might break my url’s…

    Thanks

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for reaching out here. We are sorry to hear that you’re seeing a false positive notice from Yoast SEO.

Can you please confirm whether you’ve performed SEO data optimization before? If not, you can click on the SEO data optimization button that will run the SEO data optimization for you.

I am not sure if I have or not. Is there a way I can find out?

    Hi,

There isn’t a way to know if you’ve already previously run it or not. The SEO data optimization process (under WP admin dashboard > SEO > Tools) should actually just be a one-time process that you need to initially run to make sure that the Yoast SEO plugin is working as expected (indexables, internal text link counter, prominent words (for premium)).

If you are uncomfortable with running the SEO data optimization, you can also choose to ignore the warning and wait for a week or so, until Yoast SEO automatically processes most of your content/indexables in the background, otherwise also known as lazy loading.

The number of valid pages on Google Search Console are also decreasing in number. Could this be connected?

    Hi @pj1974

We don’t expect the re-running of the SEO data optimization to have a direct effect to the number of valid pages being detected in Google Search Console. It could actually be a whole different issue altogether and would need further investigation, which is already outside the scope of our support.

Thanks Michael. I will let Yoast SEO automatically process my content/indexables in the background as you suggested and hope for the best!

    Hey @pj1974

If you let it process in the background, eventually, the notification should resolve itself.

We’ll be setting this to resolved. If the issue still occurs down the line, please do feel free to reopen the topic. Have a good one!
