I’m having the following problems with multiple websites that use the Avada theme and Yoast plugin.

When the free Yoast plugin is enabled, the Avada Default Editor encounters a delay of up to 10 seconds. For example, I click edit on an Avada text element > the editor opens > then there is a long delay before I can type or make any edits. This happens for all Avada elements, regardless of whether they are new or existing.

The other problem involves the Yoast SEO fields in the editor. All fields are extremely slow to load and there is a delay when typing.

I’ve disabled all plugins except Avada Builder and Avada Core and the problem goes away. The problems return when I enable the Yoast plugin.

I have not encountered any problems with Yoast on websites that do not use the Avada theme.

Do you have any suggestions to fix this issue?

  • Hi, just want to add this issue is only present on the PC (Windows 11 with Chrome or Edge, both fully updated). This has been driving me bonkers as it’s working fine on the Mac (Monterey 12.4, Chrome, both updated). On a simple title element switching from the General tab to the Design tab would take about 10secs, on the Mac 1.5secs (side by side on the same network)

Running on WordPress v6.0.1, Avada v7.8.1 and PHP v8.1

Other than the NextGen gallery, Yoast SEO and WP Rocket, all other plugins are disabled. Since I am working on a staging site at the moment I disabled Yoast SEO (version 19.4) and voila! Problem fixed and the PC now behaves as expected.

I’m having the same issue running WordPress v6.0.1, Avada v7.8.1, PHP v7.4.3 with Chrome on Mac 11.3.1. Turn off the Yoast SEO and the problem goes away in Chrome. Not affected by Safari.

That’s very odd. Sorry to hear that you guys are having the same issue @emanuelmozes and @tim342. We are having a tough time reproducing the issue on our end.

Can you please confirm whether the issue persists on a fresh WordPress installation with only Avada + builder and Yoast SEO plugin active? Additionally, can you please confirm how large your website is? How many pages does it contain, and what types of servers are you using?

Apache server. Large website (700 posts and pages) When I deactivate all plugins but Avada, things work well. Next, I activate Yoast SEO and there is a delay in editing.

50 websites+. It is on every single one of them.
    Sometimes larger websites, sometimes Onepager.
    Also on new installations.

If the SEO settings are shown in the backend editor, it gets slow!
The way to temporarely fix it, is to set “Show SEO settings for Pages?” to OFF. Then it is fast again.

Where is the “Show SEO settings for Pages” setting located? I didn’t see it in the Yoast settings. Hiding it with Screen Options didn’t help.

@tim342 “Show SEO settings for Pages” is located at:
Yoast SEO > Search Appearance > Tab “Content Types” > Pages
    /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wpseo_titles#top#post-types

Thank you @davemyhave that temporary solution works. I can confirm I am having this same issue with Yoast on all of my sites running Avada. All sites are updates to the most recent theme and plugin version. This fix works for me (developer) but I won’t be able to have the client do this when they go in to edit things. I have been having this issue for a few versions (couple of months) myself.

Thanks, @davemyhave. I can confirm that your temporary fix also works for me as well. This is helpful for now, but definitely not an ideal long-term solution.

I have the problem that I cannot enter anything in the ‘focus keyphrase’ field (or only very slow), nor can I delete its content (when a post has been copied) and there is a wheel endlessly turning at ‘readability’. But no result comes up.

This has been going on for some time but the last weeks it has become a real nuisance, as there is no way around. Before at least wirh a lot of patience, I was able to edit the field.

Avada, (Free) Yoast plugin, Safari on a IMac. All latest versions.

It seems that there is a problem with the rendering process of ‘toggle-switch.css’. Replace wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/css/dist/toggle-switch-####.css with the following file – https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ghinda/css-toggle-switch/v3.1.1/dist/toggle-switch.css

I can confirm that I am having the exact same problem with Avada & Yoast. As soon as I uninstalled Yoast the problem was resolved. I need Avada, but I’ll have to find an alternative to Yoast.

I found out that the problem – on my site – was caused by the WP 301 Redirect plugin. I replaced it with the popular ‘redirect’-plugin and then all was fine.
