I use the Yoast plugin and it works fine on posts and regular pages, but it cannot index the text on the product pages. I see the following messages even though there is text visible: “The text contains 0 words. This is far below the recommended minimum of 300 words.” “No internal links appear in this page”. “Your keyphrase or its synonyms do not appear in the first paragraph.” This applies to all my products on my website.

I really don’t know why this is the case and would love to hear what I should do to change this.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

When you’re entering the information about the product, are you using the content box at the top of the page or the product short description?

By default, Yoast SEO analyzes the top content box.

To analyze the product short description, we offer a premium add-on product. Learn more about Yoast SEO for WooCommerce.

    Hi @amboutwe,

Thanks for your reply! I indeed use the product short description, because it does not look good design wise when I would use the content box at the top of the page.

It’s too bad to have to use the premium add-on to have this indexed. Why not have it included in the free version? It’s just a different place to have the product content.

    Hi,

You do not need to use WooCommerce SEO to get the short description indexed. Even though Yoast SEO is unable to scan the short product description, Google will scan the source code and use what it finds to help determine ranking. The product page will still get indexed and will appear in Google.

The only difference is that with WooCommerce SEO it will scan that short description field as part of the SEO Analysis that the free Yoast has. You can then use what it finds to help improve the optimization of the page. This guide explains more about the content analysis: https://yoast.com/use-content-analysis-yoast-seo/

Google can still scan your product page and the short description area without the WooCommerce SEO plugin.
