Hi. I have Yoast 7.1 installed with the Enfold wordpress theme.

My site is indexed as a google News Source and I recently googled the site name “horror news network” and saw that it is just taking the latest story and not the site meta description which I entered in Yoast.
Wordpress dashboard -> SEO-> Search Appearance -> The info is filled out in the meta description but for some reason it does not show in Google. It has been like this for weeks. My site gets indexed often as it is a news source.

When I view the source of the page this is the message it gives me:
<!– This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v7.1 – https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/ –>
<!– Admin only notice: this page doesn't show a meta description because it doesn't have one, either write it for this page specifically or go into the SEO -> Search Appearance menu and set up a template. –>

Is anyone having this problem? I deactivated other plugins and went back to the page and viewed source but still no change.

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

We recommend you to write meta description from page level instead of adding it from the Search Appearance options as if you add a static meta description from Search Appearance options, it will cause duplicate meta description issue.

We looked at your homepage and we can confirm that Yoast SEO is generating the following meta description:

<meta name="description" content="Horror News Network is committed to bringing you the latest coverage of the most important events in the world of horror. If it's hot and it's horror, our writers offer breaking news, in-depth interviews, and thoughtful reviews of the genre's most popular movies, comics, books, games, collectibles, and live events."/>

We have also tested your homepage on Google search and we can confirm that the correct meta description is appearing. Please, refer to this screenshot from our end.

    Thank you!!
