    Last month I updated a number of meta descriptions on a client’s website, but the pages are still being flagged as “duplicate meta descriptions” in SEMRush. I am primarily having this issue with category/blog tag pages. When I go to the page’s dashboard, I see the meta description there, but it does not appear in the page’s source code. Instead, the source code shows the first 1-2 lines of the first blog on the page. I’m not sure what’s causing the override; I was considering just hiding the Yoast plugin for those pages, but I wasn’t sure if that would fix the issue.

    @kaleighb123,

    Thanks for reaching out!

    Duplicate meta descriptions suggest that another plugin or theme may be adding the metadata. We suggest that you reach out to your theme developer first, as in many cases, there is some stray metadata in the theme’s code which is generating it.
