  • I have the same issue on my site after updating to WP 5.5 and the latest version of Yoast last night.

It’s still appearing at the bottom of the post editor for me however I cannot put any SEO inputs. (No SEO preview shows up as well)

It appears to be a REST API error similar to what has been reported for other plugins

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/warning-in-wordpress-5-5/

They’ll need to ship and update to deal with the REST API error.

It’s entirely possible it is a script error related to another plugin running on the editor page that is stoping the Yoast javascript from running correctly.

I was experiencing the same issue, where the Yoast interface tabs would show, but nothing more. It turned out to be a javascript error caused by another plugin that was incompatible with WordPress 5.5 after updating.

Check your browser console for JS errors and their source.

@tkendrickweb Can you please confirm you are using the most recent Yoast v14.8.1? You can learn more about updating here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/

Also, can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.4/5.5? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast. ?If you update to the most current version of WordPress and Yoast SEO, does this resolve the issue with the Yoast metabox?

If you have already confirmed that both Yoast SEO and WordPress are up to date and the issue is still occurring, the issue may also be due an issue related to WordPress 5.5 as it seems that for some installs the recent WordPress 5.5 update breaks functionality in some plugins, which can also cause an issue in ours.

If this is the issue that is occurring, in the meantime the proposed solution is installing this plugin by the WordPress team itself: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/.

Can you please install that plugin, and let us know whether this resolves the issue for you?

@egyft Please create a new issue if you are experiencing a similar problem as this helps us in tracking as this can be caused by many different variables (WordPress version, other plugins, etc).

@devnihil I just installed the plugin you mentioned above and it solved the issue for me. Should I still open a new issue?

@egyft No, if your issue is already resolved it’s not necessary to create a new issue. Thanks for confirming that that resolved the problem for you.

    Hello,

in the past month I have a problem with my open grpah. it shows the logo in the preview and not the post’s image.
I thought maybe going to the older version of Yoast will help (i don’t have WP 5.5 but one before that.)
    will it cause any harm?
    thakns!
