    Hi,

After updating from WP 6.4. to 6.5.3 I noticed that the improved LinkControl is not displayed, but the “old” version. The reason for this is the Yoast plugin. I also tested the whole thing in a standard WordPress instance in which only the Yoast plugin was installed; no other plugins or themes. The error also appears here. See images.

    System Infos:
    Worpdress 6.5.3
    Yoast Plugin 22.8
Browser: Firefox, Chrome, Edge: Current Versions

    LinkControl with active Yoast-Plugin

    LinkControl with inactive Yoast-Plugin

    Thanks for help,

    Volker

    Hi @volker76

I have tried to add link and I was unable to face the issue. Please check the screenshot here and here.

May I know how the page was created for which you cannot link?

    Hi @611shabnam

The problem is not setting a link but the design and functions of the LinkControl. In WordPress 6.5.3 it should look like in my last two pictures or like here in the forum. With the Yoast plugin active, however, it looks like in my first two pictures and in your screenshots.

    Hi @maybellyne,

Sorry, but I don’t understand how “my bug” is related to the bug report you refer to here. Apart from the fact that the bug report is 6 years old. It seems that what I mean has not yet been fully understood.

    Hi @volker76

Thanks for the response and for the screenshots you shared earlier. I am sorry for the back and forth here and the situation you are facing.

You mentined that you are facing the design and functions of the LinkControl is not correct when you activate Yoast SEO. May I know if you are referring to this link preview is missing? Kindly check the screenshot and confirm.

    Hi @611shabnam

The preview is missing, but it is also missing in WordPress 6.4 and i didn’t see this preview in versions before. But the missing preview is not my problem. So for better understanding I made two short videos which shows the difference between with and without using Yoast.

I have a new WordPress (6.6.1) instance installed with Yoast as the only plugin and only the standard themes. The setting “Editor looks like theme” is not activated.

This Video: https://blog.dnb.de/bugs/ohne_yoast.mp4 shows what it looks like if Yoast is deactivated.

This Video: https://blog.dnb.de/bugs/mit_yoast.mp4 shows what it looks like if Yoast activated.

    Hi @volker76

Thank you for the video and showing us the difference of the link when Yoast is deactivated vs when Yoast is activated.

I noticed a similar bug report has been created and is under review by our product team.

    Hi @611shabnam

Thank you for the information, even though the error has been known for almost a year and is not a major priority.
