Yoast SEO 14.0.2 freeze with CPU 100% on activation

Same issue..

I upgraded a site from 13.5 to 14.0.3 this morning and a little while later, the site was almost completely unresponsive (it’s on a nonstandard control panel and I don’t have SSH access). I was finally able to get the Plugins page to load, so I deleted Yoast SEO and am waiting for a much more stable release.

I’m sorry to hear this freezing up has been happening since updating Yoast SEO.
Can you try and update to the latest version (14.0.4) and confirm whether this solves the CPU load?

I reinstalled the plugin (14.0.4) and things appear to be better (it’s been over 12 hours), thanks.

I just installed the plugin version 14.0.4 and during de indexing update the CPU was always on 100% usage, but at least this time the server did not freeze and the plugin did finish successfully the indexing update.

Right now the CPU usage is back to normal and everything seems to be working fine for the moment.

The latest version (14.04) doesn’t solve any problem. CPU load is often 100% and I had to go back to version 14.0 to let my website work properly. Please try to fix all the CPU usage problems before releasing the next version.

@echezuria Thanks for confirming that the 14.0.4 update of the plugin resolved the issue for you.

@zxakbg Can you please try the following?:

1. Install & activate the?Yoast Test Helper plugin
2. Go to Tools -> Yoast Test
3. Hit the “Reset indexables & migrations” button
4. Delete your current Yoast SEO installation.
5. Reinstall Yoast SEO 14.0.4.
6. Click the “Click here to speed up your site now” button.

@devnihil I tried two times, but the “Click here to speed up your site now” button doesn’t show up.

@zxakbg After updating, you may need to run the indexation again via the Tools Tab in your Yoast SEO plugin. For sites with more than 10,000 posts, we advise using the WP CLI command to do the indexation on the server. You can read more about this here: https://yoa.st/wp-cli-index

@devnihil I got more than 10,000 posts, but unfortunately I don’t know how tu un CLI commands.
