Yoast SEO 14.9 causes EDD checkout page to hang

    When I upgraded to Yoast 14.9 my Easy Digital Downloads checkout page no longer allowed people to purchase and would just hang. The browser reported that the server was returning a 500 error and the WordPress error log was full of calls to Yoast\WP\SEO\Builders\Indexable_Link_Builder->bu which in turn caused code in my theme to call do_shortcode() and bomb out.

    I see that someone just left a review that also mentioned the SEO plugin was preventing checkout, I’m not sure if they are also using EDD or something else.

    @bobriley We’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing an issue with the plugin and and EDD. Regarding the errors, are you able to provide the specific errors you are seeing in the log?

    Also, can you please confirm you are using the most recent version of Yoast SEO version 14.9, and WordPress 5.5? You can learn more about updating here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/
