So I was going to ask questions but I noticed the last 24 hours many topics have been opened with the same problems regarding Yoast SEO and Polylang. Just in case I will share my problems too.

I just found out the English version of my website wilmade.com doesn’t show up in Google at all. Only my Dutch pages which are not even optimized! I have this problem with two websites, both using Polylang and Yoast.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello,

That sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
    2. Check for conflicts.
    3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.

If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

With regards to recommendations from on what would be the best multilingual plugin or solution, Yoast highly recommends MultilingualPress.

    Hi,

I need some help with wilmade.com and wilmawestenberg.nl – they both have the exact same problem, but just focus on wilmade.com for now as that’s the most important one.

So I found out that google only shows my Dutch posts. No english. The only english posts that are shown on google, are those that i have not translated to dutch and are only available as english posts. This is an example of a post that is available in both dutch and english and only appears in dutch on google: https://wilmade.com/bella-vita-shawl/.

When I look at the source of the post, I don’t see <meta name=”description”… etc… I see this meta description only at my home page.

How can this be a specific issue to my site if it is happening to two different websites? They have both different themes as well.

Wilmade.com and wilmawestenberg.nl both use Yoast and both have this issue of only one language showing in Google

@wilmaw We have checked both of your websites and we can confirm that Yoast SEO is generating all the SEO data correctly as expected. We have then tested both of your websites in the Google search and we can confirm that the English versions of your websites are appearing in the search results. Please, refer to the attached screenshots from our end:

On the other hand, whenever using a multilingual site, the hreflang should be outputted. Unfortunately, Yoast SEO doesn’t generate the hreflang meta yet. However, we do have a feature request open in our development repository for this. So, this may available in future updates.

On the other hand, some multilingual plugin (i.e. WPML) generate the hreflang meta. So, please reach out the Polylang to know whether they generate the hreflang meta or not as this is very important for multilingual sites SEO.

Hmm, but I do have hreflang meta?

Also, why does none of my English posts appear when I search on Google? For example ‘Bella Vita Shawl’ only shows my Dutch posts. There is 1 English post that shows up (an update post that is not available in Dutch at all). But the most popular and important one that went viral on social media, doesn’t show up at all.

    Same with my other website.

When I search for certain words, only my Dutch posts show up. Even though I didn’t optimize them. The English posts that are optimized and use that word many times, do not show up at all.

Right, you have the hreflang meta on your site. Unfortunately, we are unable to confirm why English posts are not appearing in the Google search results. However, we can confirm that Yoast SEO is generating all the SEO meta correctly as expected. Therefore, we recommend you please reach out the Google webmaster team for assistance. You can find them here.
