  • Hi,

We tried to reproduce the issue on WordPress v5.6.1, using Yoast SEO v15.8 on the storefront theme (v3.5)but we do not think we are doing it right.

    1. We created 3 slides in the plugin and added data to them. See image: https://ibb.co/MBVJGgZ.

    2. We then saved and it cleared out all the data. See image https://ibb.co/VHrr8PN.

    3. However, the shortcode still renders the slides as expected on the page. See image: https://ibb.co/KmsbPB1.

We would like some more information.

    A. Is the issue with #2 above? That the data is getting cleared out after saving?

    B. If not, can you elaborate a bit more on the issue or share screenshots? You can use a tool like: https://imgbb.com/ to share the image.

    C. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes also updated?

    D. Can you confirm you are using WordPress 5.6.1? You can check by clicking on the W in the top left and selecting About. If you need to update, please check with your host provider.?Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast.?This guide explains more:?https://yoast.com/why-we-dont-support-old-wordpress-versions/.

    E. From reading the replies here https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/major-conflict-with-yoast-seo-15-8, it seems like there is some other feature in the SA Slider plugin which needs to be enabled in order to trigger the issue? However, it is not clear to us what that is. Can you elaborate more on if any features of the SA Slider plugin also need to be enabled?

Yes, the issue is with Step #2 above – I’m getting a flood of emails & support topics because people are losing their work (the Sliders that they have previously created).

So you are able to replicate the error, which is good.

So if someone has created a 50-slide slider, then if they upgrade to Yoast 15.8 and then they edit their slider, they only see the 3 default slides (which you get when you create a new slider). The danger is is they click ‘Update’ then their original slides are then lost.

I am on WordPress 5.6.1 (and latest DIVI theme), and I have recent updated everything on my test site (plugins & themes). Basically this issue resolves when you install the previous version of Yoast SEO (version 15.7).

I’ve switched on WP Debugging, and I don’t see anything to offer a clue. Also there are no errors in the JavaScript console.

Maybe ask the devs to add an exclusion for the Slide Anything post type (‘sa_slider’) within the WP Dashboard – so that all the Yoast functionally is not executed within the Slide Anything Add/Edit pages.

There is no need to have SEO functionality within the individual SA slider pages, as each slider does not constitute an individual page(URL) requiring SEO optimization.

    Hi,

We have passed long that feedback to our developers. Can you also let us know if the SA Sliders are a public or private post type?

    (@simonpedge)

    Its a ‘private’ post type.

Ok! Thank you for that extra information!

Hi, do you have a progress update on this issue?
Will a fix be included in version 15.9?

Unfortunately, we’re not sure in which version the fix will be included. While we do not have an ETA for when our developers will review it or work on any possible fixes, we can only say it is open with them now.

Well I see that this issue has not been fixed in the new version 15.9 release.

I don’t really have too much choice here going forward, I’m getting so many emails about this issue in my inbox (and as issue forum topics). I’m going to have to recommend to my user base to use another SEO plugin.
