• Hi!

I need some help, because I have a critical error on my WP dashboard because of Yoast SEO, I see from former conversations, what the problem could be, but I can not deactivate it or anything, because whenever I try to go to plugins (even in recovery mode) I get this message: There has been a critical error on this website, putting it in recovery mode. Please check the Themes and Plugins screens for more details. If you just installed or updated a theme or plugin, check the relevant page for that first.

Thank you for the help in advance!

  • Hey @eszterbaboka,

I would recommended to do the following.

    1. Delete the wordpress-seo folder in your /wp-content/plugins/ folder. You can do this through SFTP or a control panel file manager feature if your web host has it. If you are not familiar with this, ask your web host for assistance.
    2. Go to your wp-admin and make sure to update your WordPress core, and other plugins or themes if there are any open updates.
    3. Reinstall the latest Yoast SEO from the plugins screen
    4. Check if the issue persists if not

If the issue persists, you’ll have to figure out what the PHP error is your site has. You can find more info in your log files.
