    Hi team,

I do have the problem, that my meta description is not displayed on Google for WooCommerce categories. Sometimes Yoast SEO also shows the date of some of our our products and sometimes not. Sometimes it shows the right Meta title and description and sometimes not.
I guess there can be a conflict, right? Because just after new indexing nothing has changed

I hope you can help me!

    Best regards
    Niclas

@tatennis We checked on the page in question and see the title/meta description are output as the following:

<title>Tischtennis Holz für Noppenspieler online kaufen | Sauer & Tr?ger</title>
<meta name="description" content="Tischtennis Holz speziell für Noppenspieler. Jetzt Online Kaufen bei Sauer & Tr?ger. ? Defensiv Holz ? Allround Holz ? Offensiv Holz" />

Can you please confirm whether this is correct?

If it is, please note that whereas Google typically uses the title from the metadata for indexing, this is not always the case. Google will sometimes modify the title of the URL as it sees fit, as well as sometimes adding the brand or sitename to the end of your title. This is not due to the plugin not functioning as expected, but rather is due to Google modifying the Title it indexes as it’s algorithm has concluded that there is a better version to index.

We also have additional information on this topic available at the following links: https://yoast.com/google-page-title/ and https://kb.yoast.com/kb/google-shows-different-titles-for-my-site/. Please refer to these articles as the include recommendations for crafting a page title which will help increase the likelihood that Google will use the title you specified instead of modifying your page’s title as it sees fit.

    Hi Carl,

thank you very much for your answer! Yes, meta title and description are correct. Interesting that Google is trying to index something else. Especially in this case, it is rather nonsense.

So, this means, I do not have influence how Google shows the title and meta description?

I am looking forward to your answer!

    Best regards

In your article it says something about title tag support. How can I see, if my Theme (Ocean WP) provides that?

    Best regards

    Hi @tatennis ,

We’ve responded to your questions below:

So, this means, I do not have influence on how Google shows the title and meta description?
    >> While we can “suggest” on what title and description Google will output for our sites, ultimately, Google will make the final decision on what comes up in search results. You can learn more in Google’s help doc about titles and descriptions.

How can I see, if my Theme (Ocean WP) provides that?
    >> It’s best to confirm this with your Ocean WP’s support here: https://oceanwp.org/support/.
