    Hi,

I have a standard WordPress site on Thrive Themes.
    WordPress is 5.3.2-en-GB
Thrive is lastest with rise theme
    Classic editor plugin not installed

The issue I am having is that I’m no longer seeing key parts of Yoast SEO functionality.
Just goes straight into Advanced https://www.screencast.com/t/j8lFNr4oOi

I’ve tried deactivating all plugins and switching back on one by one – No effect.
I’ve tried replacing theme with standard WordPress theme – No effect.

I’ve looked at Post – More options – options. Yoast SEO is ticked.
I’ve gone into SEO general – features and switched bars off (saved) and on (saved) – No effect.
I’ve gone into SEO – Taxonomies and re-shown the boxes – No effect.
I’ve gone into Users and checked none of the Yoast disable checkboxes are checked – No effect.

The only thing I see is in the post under categories it says

An error occurred loading the Yoast SEO primary taxonomy picker.'
With the code as: (domain name replaced with 'X.com')

TypeError: Cannot read property 'setPrimaryTaxonomyId' of null

    Thanks

Can you please confirm you are using the most recent Yoast v13.0? You can learn more about updating here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/

?If you update to the most current version of Yoast SEO, does this resolve the issue?

If you have already confirmed that Yoast SEO is up to date and the issue is still occurring, can you please try manually reinstalling the plugin? We have instructions on how to install/upgrade the plugin manually at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/#ftp. You will need an FTP program such as FileZilla and your FTP details, which can be obtained from your host provider.

i’ am also having the same issue .

    Hi @devnihil

Yes, I’m on version 13.0 of Yoast SEO https://www.screencast.com/t/aI8i2infiQMY

No it didn’t resolve the issue.

    I’ll try the manual re-install

i’m also on the 13.0 version if your problem is solved than let me know the procedure.

So I downloaded a new Yoast zip file and then with FTP’d that over the existing install.
    But no change i’m afraid

tumble2458 you are not alone.. I have the EXACT issue as shown in your screenshot after upgrading to 13.0.
    https://prnt.sc/qz97je

Also, the “Wizard function” does not work as well.
    https://prnt.sc/qz97v0

I have tried everything spent all day on it.. deactivating all plugins..etc.

Just installed “WP-Optimize 3.0.16” thinking maybe if I clean the DB / optimize it.. Maybe just maybe it might help and fix the issue, but no.
Now, it is stuck for past 30 minutes on cleaning when other tasks took just seconds.
“Optimize database tables” “Optimizing Table: wp_yoast_seo_meta”
    https://prnt.sc/qz9844

I see other complaints of the same issue and support asks do you have the new version, then no follow up reply from support.

This is a bug in Yoast 13.0.

I have done NOTHING to my WP based site, but upgrade Yoast when I logged in last seeing it was the only plugin that was needing to be updated. Went straight to working on a draft post I had saved and the error with Yoast working was present as shown in the image. https://prnt.sc/qz97je

    Please Yoast HELP!

    v13.0

@devnihil Would it be possible to forward the previous version to install to see what happens there?

That way we can conclude where the problem is, if v12 works and we can continue with it with our sites till a revised v13 becomes available.

    Thanks

Is this issue solved or not if yes let me know how?

    Thread Starter tumble2458

    (@tumble2458)

@sumeenz No. Its pretty bad because all my sites had automatic updates so they all received v13…which as it seems isn’t working.

    (@tumble2458)

@devnihil Any update on a fix and a new update coming out, or perhaps can we try v12 to see if that works or at least is it possible to provide some advisory as to what we should do in meantime?

    Thanks

    Same problem.

Problem occurs only on Posts, on pages seems fine.

@tumble2458 ?In regards to your request to download a previous version of the Yoast SEO plugin, please note that previous versions of the plugin may not be secure or stable and are available for testing purposes only. However, if you wish to download a previous version of the plugin, ?you can do so by performing the following steps:
    ?

@sumeenz @ekips12 Please create a new issue if you are experiencing a similar problem as this helps us in tracking as this can be caused by many different variables (WordPress version, other plugins, etc).

I want to apologize to Yoast! Error was on my end.

For my issue it was caused by my VPN. Switched VPN and Yoast plugin options on posts/pages for SEO options appeared just as they normally should/did.

By chance anyone having issue like in this screenshot I posted prior causing Yoast options to not appear: https://prnt.sc/qz97je

And you are using a VPN… Try another VPN. Have no clue why as I have used that VPN for years to check ranks and work in WP panels without issue.

I thought to just try another VPN and see what happens.. By doing so this fixed the issue and the Yoast plugin works perfect as normal.

    Thread Starter tumble2458

    (@tumble2458)

Well..I’m not too sure what happened but it does look like the full Yoast plugin is back.
I haven’t become aware of any changes to VPN or any other updates so whatever happened seems to to done some beneficial to the site that was being problematic.

I’ll check over some other sites to see if its the same condition.

    @tumble2458 is your problem resolved
