• Hello,

I’ve checked the forum and have found some answers to my question, however, I’m unable to navigate the steps to resolve my issue, unfortunately.

I use to have the Yoast SEO plugin but it’s disappeared. When I try to reinstall it, it says “Installation failed: Destination folder already exists.”

I can’t find the wp-content plugins page and I’ve tried to access the file manager page and cannot find the plugin there to remove/update file. Can anyone provide step by step on how I can fix this issue to reinstall yoast SEO plugin, please?

    Thank you,

    Michelle

Via FTP or your hosting control panel’s file manager, delete the directory wp-contents/plugins/wordpress-seo. You can then reinstall Yoast.

    Hi Steve,

I went into File Manager and searched all my files for wp-contents/plugins/wordpress-seo…. i only found a zip file that says wordpress-seo … nothing specifically for the plugin “yoast seo”

There is no plugin with the slug “yoast-seo”. For historical reasons that now annoy everyone, it’s “wordpress-seo”. ??

Are you looking on the server for that directory?

Haha makes sense! Ok then I did find that folder but I don’t see an option to uninstall. It only says home, up one level, back, view trash, file, folder, upload, etc.

I’m not entirely sure… I’m in cPanel File Manager

Delete the directory. Please google “how to use cpanel file manager”. If you need help with cpanel, please contact your host.

I was able to delete and add the plugin back in – thank you so much for your help and patience!
