Yoast SEO Plugin Update to 3.9 Put My Site in Maintenance Mode

    Hi All,

    I selected update with this plugin and my site went into maintenance mode.
    and stayed there.
    Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.

    Yoast SEO
    You have version 3.8 installed. Update to 3.9. View version 3.9 details.
    Compatibility with WordPress 4.6.1: 100% (according to its author)

    I logged back in and disabled the plugin and now my site is back up.

    Any ideas on how and why? Anything I can check so I can
    get this plugin activated again.

    I am running WordPress 4.61.
