  • Same issue here. The Search Appearance settings disappear after I update to Yoast version 18.3 on WordPress 5.8.3. All I can see is the tabs at the top (General, Content Types, Media, etc.).

Is there a workaround for this? I have many custom sites that I can’t just mass update to WordPress 5.9.

    Hello @juanantonio

I understand that you are having issues with Yoast SEO 18.3 and WordPress 5.7.x. Yoast SEO is only compatible with the last two versions of WordPress; in this case, 5.8 and 5.9. Please know that if you are using an older version of WordPress Core you may experience unexpected behavior with Yoast.?

@3leon3 Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

If you do not feel comfortable to do this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.

I tried the helper and it looks like it may be a custom theme conflict. I have never had this issue with the Yoast plugin on my themes and have been using the plugin for many years. I will look into what is causing the theme conflict. Any other suggestions? Thanks

    Hi @3leon3

When performing a conflict check and starting with a default WP theme (e.g. TwentyTwenty) and only Yoast SEO 18.3, are you able to access the Search Appearance section and does it load without any issues? And if you then switch to your preferred theme, does the issue occur then? If so, you can probably confirm that it’s likely a theme conflict.

But if you’re also using outdated versions of WordPress and your other plugins and themes, we recommend updating to the latest versions to see if this helps as well.
