Yoast SEO Sitemap Showing A Blank Page

    Hi

    Our Yoast SEO sitemap file is showing a blank page: https://www.usvisasolutions.co.uk/sitemap_index.xml (it is showing an error description in Firefox). I have followed the advice in this post: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/my-sitemap-is-blank-what-s-wrong/. The result of this is the sitemap file is there (i.e. the source code is accessible, as well as the XSL file), so it says it could be a conflict with caching or something.

    The article gives advice for cache plugins, but says it should be reported to the host, if caching is done at server level. This website has no cache plugins – it is all done by the host (WP Engine). So, I have contacted their support team and they are reporting no issues their end and have advised that a manual htaccess sitemap should be uploaded to the route. However, I don’t really want to do this, as I need the benefits of the Yoast sitemap (automatic updates, etc).

    Has anyone else experienced this before who can point me in the right direction?

    Hi @michaelhutton82

    It seems that you have installed plugin which forces replacing ALL https:// to https:// (regardless domain,…). I see difference between your style-sheet file and Yoast SEO original ( https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/blob/trunk/css/xml-sitemap-xsl.php ).

    Please try to deactivate all plugins which forces https protocol (or maybe it’s PHP code), then clear cache and deactivate/activate Yoast SEO (to purge transients where Yoast SEO stores sitemaps cache).

    If you send me more details, I’ll try to reproduce it on my test server.

    I just tested and I can reproduce it if I change namespace to https. For example, it doesn’t work:

    xmlns:xsl="https://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"

    It’s same error – Error loading stylesheet: Parsing an XSLT stylesheet failed.

    @michaelhutton82 The blank sitemap issue typically occurs due to the cache. If you’re not running any caching and your web host confirms that everything is correct from their end, we suggest you please perform a conflict check by following this guide.

    Notice that while the sitemap is blank, we confirm the sitemap is technically correct. It’s only the human readable browser view of the sitemap that doesn’t load properly, so search engines won’t have any problems parsing the XML sitemap.

    Thanks @stodorovic and @mazedulislamkhan for your replies, which have both been very helpful. Please excuse the delay in my reply…been out of the office for a few days.

    I will proceed to look into this further and setup a testing environment to eliminate the offending plugin, following that conflict check guide.

    Hi,

    I am having a major issue with my sitemap. I just noticed that my sitemap is a blank page. I have checked Yoast guidelines This is my link: https://www.digitalattension.com/sitemap_index.xml

    I have tried everything and the plugin still cannot generate sitemap_index.xml

    I will appreciate any help with this issue.
